Europe and Eurail Travel News
I had some time today to catch up on news around the blogosphere and wanted to quickly post a few links to articles that may be of interest to folks gearing up for a European adventure…
First, of course, in case you missed it, the Boots Crew came up with their own dandy list of top nine Eurail secret tips. I think tip number ten is to read this blog 🙂
I’m a bit late getting to these next few, but in case you missed them:
NYT on Affordable Europe
The lodging recommendations they provide are still way too pricey for my budget, but I like the “things to do for free” category and agree that spending time in city parks or taking evening walks are two of the very best activities to get a feel for the pulse of these great cities.
See Tim Leffel’s response to the piece and comments for further insight on cheap travel in Europe. When my trip is complete I’ll share my own insight on the pros and cons of budget travel on the continent…for now I’ll just say that it can be done, but you have to be flexible and very creative.
The NYT also did a short bit on Getting Around Europe Cheaply, with pros and cons of train vs. plane vs. bus. If you need to get somewhere fast and cheap, plane is the way these days… but nothing beats train or bus travel for really seeing where you are going…or coming from.
