Goodbye to Buda
It has been an excellent week here in Budapest. After the walking tour I already mentioned, we did a ton of walking on our own, visiting the Museum of Fine Arts, City Park and the thermal baths at Széchenyi. We also took a short crusie up the Danube to Szentendre (Saint Andrew), walked around the entire length of Margaret Island, and hiked up Gellert Hill. Besides the boat trip, we walked EVERYWHERE, and our legs are feeling it today. But it is all good, the extra exercise made our meals even more enjoyable, we especially liked Karma and Menza along Franz Liszt, where we ate outside and soaked up the social scene and atmosphere. And we capped it all off last night with a visit to the Hungarian House of Wines, where we sampled wines from around the country, and toasted to my 80th day and our final week together. CJ and I are off to Slovenia tomorrow, on an 8 hour train ride to Ljubijana. Maybe Ill finally finish the book I started in Prague?
